The Tales of the Great Storm (Prologue)

My true name is Amara Jadenia but my new best friend the young Gold Dragon Tundar of House Edar and his companions of the agency known as Zaphfire call me by shortened name Mara Jadde. It was the Elder Unseelie Petal Fey who goes by the name Ambrosia who prefers to be called Ambrose who along with the aid of Tundar and Zaphfire began the tale I will attempt to relate.

Perhaps I should begin by setting the stage and relate a little background on my world and the events that led to me calling myself Mara Jadde and of the course the days leading up to the closing of the war known as the Third Far Realm Incursion. Now what was the Third Far Realm Incursion you might say well the realm has more names and supposedly a few obscure ways to arrive at its destination but each are believed to beyond the working of most mortals of immortals or so it is believed today. I will need to continue a reveal more about my world before it will all make sense.

My worlds name is Xeron a vast planet over twice the size of most worlds and watched over by entities that make the God’s themselves look small the four known as the Primordials. Depending on who you consult the only that race that ever stood their ground against the menace of the Far Realm were the enigmatic EarthMasters. Over six thousand years ago a cataclysm occurred and the EarthMasters vanished. During the time of their departure the skies darkened and the world was devastated by elemental furies as the Gods and even the Primordials were it seemed thrown down our up from the Heavens or Hells in which they resided and resigned to walk the face of Xeron. In reality the very reality of the world had been altered in order to save our world from being breached by the Far Realm a dimension of pure madness and horror.

The Avatars of the Gods took to fighting and gathering their surviving followers and strengthening them for a war of supremacy amongst themselves. If it were not for the balancing forces exerted by the Primordials who lost many of their own children over the next four thousand years the world might have been torn apart. Of course the learned of the age had figured out the their were now in addition to the known Outer and Inner Planes of existence there were also a number of new ones that seemed to now rotate Xeron thirteen in all. It made life on the world a little more interesting but it was not until the world known as Xoriat came into close proximity and the rifts began to open in the year 6981 that the natives of Xeron realized there was a problem but it did not take long for the first Far Realm incursion had begun.

Xoriat it seemed while distant was a world that for a period of twenty years out of every thousand came into close proximity with Xeron and during those times entities whom would come to be known as minions of Thoon would begin attacking the world their only purpose it seemed at the time the utter and completed destruction of everyone and everything. Of course there is more to be told First and Second Far Realm Incursion but that is not my tale. Instead I shall move forward two thousand years or so to the time of my birth during the Third Far Realm Incursion in the winter of 8984 or as recorded by the Xeron Calendar Felishar 1 of Selene’s 8984 Ascendance.

So while I realize that make me in reality seventeen years old I only remember thirteen of those years and my body is still that of a quite athletic and muscular thirteen year old. I will admit it troubles me. I was born and raised near the City State of Transcendence a vassal Nation protected by the Empire of the Elders of Kal’Reth in a Kalashtar Monastery under the tutelage of the Psion who I only knew as the Kalashtar Master Psion Shal. During my early years I was shown the ways of the Warlock and the path of the Shaper Psion. My Patron Master Shal even saw to it that I was trained for the Espionage Branch of the Military. It actually paid off for I first saw action in the Third Far Realm Incursion at the age of ten in what was called the Quori Conflict.

To make a long story short the Quori are truly immortal and while their personalities can be slain their number will always remain the same as they are reborn. Of course their personalities are brand new but they normally join in with whatever cause the Quori are currently backing. So the only way to truly make a true change in them would be to wipe them all out at the same time so that diplomats could perhaps help them see the errors of their ways. Let us just say I was on the winning side and in a successful surgical strike all the Quori were slain and reborn and their alliance to the Far Realm was severed and so was their portal to the Far Realm.

My mission had taken two years to set up and complete and as I had already established a cover as an apprentice to the Witch Academy of the Matriarchy of Lar’Tya I was in the perfect position to join their military. I officially joined their side in the Third Far Realm Incursion and my military career progressed as planned. I entered the war officially as a Scout for the Matriarchy of Lar’Tya who soon saw my potential and my natural gifts and promoted me to their Marine division where I would eventually rise to the rank of Lieutenant. I served with them for a full year before my life took a change that I would have never expected for my former Kalashtar Master Shal found me during a layover in the City State of Four Winds awaiting transport to the next front. He had appeared in my personal bunk worried and concerned and had been near death but I had the power to save him before he succumbed to the many bleeding wounds that had been inflicted upon him.

Master Shal told me that there was more to me than met the eye and that I was in grave danger and that that versions of the future had yet to be written. He told me that he had traveled to Temporal Energy Plane and found a way to double back upon his own timeline to come back and warn me. He told me that if I went on the next mission with my unit I would become involved in a major conflict and not just on the sidelines but the front lines and that I would grow in power and be lost to the world when it might need me the most. Nothing he said to me had made much sense but I trusted him more than anyone so I took his hand and we were thrust into another time and dimension.

Four years passed and I reappeared on the coast of the Interieure Sea exactly where I had stood before only now I was different I had been altered or perhaps all had been revealed but what I did know was that for all intents and purposed I no longer existed. My life and knowledge of my existence had been erased I had knowledge in my mind of what had transpired in the last four years and wore items that I sort of just knew as opposed to remembered how I had acquired. I also knew my heritage and I knew I appeared to be a thirteen year old human Fetch and Half-Vampire girl but I also knew I was so much more but I felt strongly that I should remain as I was in order to evade the coming storm that I felt might soon be seeking to find me.

I did not have to wait long for I was soon arrested by the Sheriff’s of the City State of Four Winds on charges of Piracy. The war it seemed was indeed over with of course no doubt a few leftover Far Realm creatures to be hunted down and dispatched. Of course what was odd was that there had seemed to be a profound stillness in the very air. For if the Third Realm Incursion had indeed ended what had happened to the Avatar’s and Great Heroes who had taken the fight directly to Xoriat in an attempt to end the Incursions once and for all. Why were the people not in the streets, skies and seas celebrating our victory over the minions of Thoon? Sadly I knew the answer to that question.

The answer was that this Third Far Realm Incursion had been quite different than the ones before it had seemed the rift that had been sealed on Dal Quor the homeworld dimension of the Quori had not been sealed soon enough. For before it had been closed it had allowed the Quori and their Inspired Hosts to convert over ninety percent of the Mind Flayers to the Thoon cause. With their knowledge and power they had managed to convince the world of Xeron long enough that they were working against the Thoonites when in reality they were the Thoonites. With the power of dreaded magical matrixes placed in key locations around the world they had set a plan into motion that could have opened up Xeron directly to the Far Realm if the Avatars and Heroes had used the EarthMaster Gates to return before the rift between our dimension and the Far Xoriat once again shifted out of alignment for another thousand years.

I was tired and I was in prison the quality of my equipment had not doubt earned me a place in the cells reserved for possible lawful for important criminals. I doubt they knew that to think of me and I realized the situation I was in did not look good for while I still had gaps in my memory I also knew that divinations and enchantments of any kind did not work upon me. I also knew I was not a Human but a Changeling and many of my items were of EarthMaster construction and were hidden within me and as I wore delicate white prison robes no doubt curtsey of the Judges of the City State of the Four Winds. I therefore felt I had no choice other than to await my fate alone in my cell like the other six prisoners. Little did I know how my life was to soon change and this tale would become one not entirely my own.
